As Laker’s continue to struggle, Russell Westbrook at the forefront of trade rumors
What Russell Westbrook has achieved in the NBA should never be over looked. he’s an NBA legend, a bonified Hall of Famer. He’s known as mr. triple double himself, a 9 time all-star, 2 time scoring champ, has an MVP award and one final appearance in his 14 seasons as an NBA star. Even in year 14 with the Lakers, he’s averaging 19.8 points a game, 8 assists and 6 rebounds a game the numbers aren’t nearly as bad as it looks.
However, when watching a Lakers game you are reminded how Westbrook’s game is not aging well to the modern game. For starters Westbrook can’t shoot, a defensive liability, and a turnover machine. Westbrook is shooting 31% from 3 point range while only attempting 3 three’s a game. This isn’t working for Bron and the Lakers who desperately need floor spacing and guards who can catch and knock down set three’s. Averaging a career high in turnovers at 4.5 a game his erratic and out of control play proves he’s doing to much. With the Lakers below .500 and age clearly playing a factor the verteran Westbrook is just not a fit with this Lakers team who desperately needs consistent guard play. As NBA fans, we’ll continue to monitor the Lakers play but the lack of defense and perimeter shooting they continue to display, I’m not sure they’ll be able to turn this thing around before its too late. They wiffed on Westbrook and now have to lay in the bed they made.
