So OBJ Wasn't the problem in Cleveland after all
In only 3 seasons in the NFL with the New York Giants, Odell Beckham Jr. became a global brand. From “the catch”, to the viral dancing videos, even to the blonde mohawk Beckham influenced athletes and the culture. Literally, kids and other grown men (I know a couple of y’all ) we’re asking for the OBJ haircut. In his first 3 seasons OBJ had at least 90 receptions, at least 1,300 yards and double digit touchdown catches in each season as a New York Giant. Injuries and sideline antics forced the Giants hand, and traded him to Cleveland in 2019.
Cleveland was a mess. OBJ joined a historically dysfunctional organization, with spotty leadership and an overrated arrogant quarterback in Mayfield. Beckham only found the end zone 7 times in 3 seasons with the Browns and Baker. He was labeled a diva, a distraction, and a WR who was clearly out of his prime. OBJ’s father shared a video on social media which is now viral, titled :”Odell Beckham is Always Open for the Cleveland Browns in 2021.” The world saw the video, and folks reacted. OBJ was really open, he was beating man coverage, he was finding the soft spots in the zone, and he still looked extremly twitchy and explosive as before. It was Baker. Baker Mayfield is not talented enough to make the throws and missed OBJ wide open countless times.
OBJ is now in LA and thriving. Learning a new system and building chemistry with a new quarterback in Matthew Stafford hasn’t been a problem at all. With 3 touchdowns in 4 games with the Rams, OBJ is proving he hasn’t lost a step and is indeed still an elite WR.
